"Gigolo"
on the Row Eloquence Press
ISBN 0-9753300-0-4
The first thing to notice about "Gigolo"
is that the word gigolo is in quotes. So, while
it may seem that this is somehow a sexually-based
book, it is not. In fact, hero Mark Sterling must
learn to deal with
his wife's death and his own guilt for not having
been more supportive of her. So, he befriends and
becomes supportive of the other neighborhood women,
not necessarily the best strategy for a new widower
to take; hence, the neighbor men have nicknamed
Mark the "gigolo" on the row, a nickname
for their street.
Mark deals with his loss and his guilt, and becomes
the neighborhood good guy. But that lands him in
trouble, particularly when he begins to think that
maybe his wife was killed on purpose by a neighbor.
His buddy Harv the psychologist helps us delve into
the mind of the young widower and how he successfully
and unsuccessfully copes with confusion surrounding
his loss.

Got
To Make It! Eloquence
Press ISBN 0-9753300-6-3
GOT TO MAKE IT! is pretty much a roadmap through
the sixties. Since the band coexisted with the Beatles,
it is not unusual that many of the same cultural
influences affected both groups. At the same time,
since members of the band were in their formative
years, it is easy to see how events like the Viet
Nam war, the 1970 Hunger March, and the assassinations
of the sixties had an impact on the perspectives
of the teens of that era. It is fun and moving to
see how these events affected the expectations of
a generation and its music.
Most of all, having lived through the Kennedy years,
the band's "how high is up" philosophy
never wavered, despite frequent disappointments.
Indeed, the message brought home in the book, and
underlined at the end, is the undeniable value of
persistence.
It's a valuable read for teens of the current era
and a reflective step back for those who lived through
that golden decade.

A
Consequence Of Greed Eloquence
Press ISBN 0-975-3300-7-1
A study of the clash of two cultures: Yankee and
Texan. Paranoia and arrogance, and unspoken rules
for lust, love, and values, ripple through A CONSEQUENCE
OF GREED. Also, if you're a Shakespeare buff, you'll
see allusions which I couldn't help but include,
so relevant were they to the book's story line,
theme, and characters. Likewise, utilization of
ghost and spirit characters may seem familiar. They
serve useful purposes for the reader journeying
through these pages and add an "X-Files"
sort of tone to the book.

Latent
Image Eloquence Press
ISBN 0-9753300-4-7
LATENT IMAGE is one of my favorite books, if authors
are allowed such a distinction. Its plot structure
and dialogue were greatly influenced by my mentor,
F. Scott Fitzgerald. Its short length and punchy
plot points are also reminiscent of the Great Gatsby.
It's slowly evolving, but inevitable, surprise ending,
has always elicited positive responses at dinner
parties as I constructed the book!

The
Charm from Delhi Eloquence
Press ISBN 0-9753300-2-0
At first CHARM may be viewed as a classic battle
of the anti-hero, the bad guy who is the hero. What
is more interesting is how the main character, Jeremy,
comes off to men and, separately, to women.
Since men identify with Jeremy, they are often embarrassed
by his brazenness and "id" instincts.
They are impatient and want the sonofabitch to get
it. Women like the book because Jeremy is, in a
way
portrayed as a "typical guy," in the most
negative sense. So, as his karma begins to work
against him, they cheer that such a jerk is finally
"getting what he deserves."
As Jeremy pays for his sins, however, both men and
women are elated that he gets paid back so completely.

The
Armstrong Solution Eloquence
Press ISBN 0-9753300-1-2
What is the most fun for authors is when readers
spot the intended symbolism put in a book. For instance,
when readers of THE ARMSTRONG SOLUTION see that
I used the jungle, Lear Jet, and male chauvinist
atmosphere at Pepe's Cafe as symbols of corporate
America, the whole book becomes a much more interesting
read.

Lacey's
Day Eloquence Press ISBN
0-9753300-5-5
In my research, time after time, those Internet
liasons that began as safe, caring, email relationships,
went on to become stable unions in-the-flesh. So,
the efficacy of e-love should not be doubted! It
can truly be a safe place to fall. I found that
by focusing on esoteric values that usually become
more important in later years of a normal relationship,
an email union depends less on the transitional
physical aspects that drive early in-the-flesh partnerships.
