A reminder, all of my titles are now distributed
by Baker & Taylor, so they are available
at any book store in the US by special order
and at many web sites around the world.
I've suspended work on my book FINDING NIKKI.
The more I wrote, the more I felt it was cliche
and like a Law and Order episode. Instead,
I've begun a new book based somewhat on my
deceased father's life from 1938-44, when
he was just twenty and part of a sort of lost
generation who supported World War II by serving
as engineers at home with technical deferments.
The book the working title is One More Dirty
Snowflake explores his relationship with his
first wife: someone I knew about, but never
knew. I expect the book will take several
years to fully research and write. Its brief
synopsis is now at eadonbooks.com in "forthcoming
titles" if you're interested. The working
cover design is attached to this email. This
summer, my wife, Karen, and I will journey
to London, Scotland and the Scottish town
of my father's birth to get some juicy factoids
for the book.
Here's the synopsis of my next book . . .
One
More Dirty Snowflake
Set in the late 1930's in Chicago, just as
the depression is winding down at last and
Hitler is gearing up for World War in Europe,
a young American man in his twenties, who
had immigrated from Scotland a decade before,
falls in love with a beautiful young American
woman. The two, saved from serious service
by their technically-oriented jobs, live like
a lost generation, but not without guilt?going
to the beach, dancing, eating out?exploring
their world. Once they marry at last and a
child is on the way, their magical time is
severely challenged.

BOOK REVIEWS/PR
Please check out the reviews I've received
from Bookwire at eadonbooks.com and eloquencepress.com.
Also Bookviews.com had a nice write-up about
my books in the October, 2005 edition, reproduced
below :
When you consider how hard it is to write
just one novel, it is amazing to receive
six of them by the same author. And one
of the six took him 19 years to finish!
Jack Eadon has bypassed all the arrogance
and delay that is too often endemic to the
mainstream publishing community. His own
publishing house is Eloquence Press, headquartered
in Tustin, California. You can visit it
at www.eloquencepress.com to learn about
his many interesting, well-written novels.
His personal favorite is A Consequence of
Greed, the one that took so long to complete;
a novel of mystical revenge. The sequel
to it is Latent Image, a story of love,
loss and recovery. There’s also a
story about growing up in the 60s, Got To
Make It! that evokes the "beat"
poets of that era, as well as its prime
players like the Beatles and Elvis. Others
include Lacey’s Day, an intense cross-cultural
Internet love story that puts two very different
people together. Clearly Eadon is a born
storyteller. If you enjoy a good novel,
you will enjoy any one of these or the others
he’s penned.
Finally, thanks to Robert Smith, my publicist,
for all his help, getting my books featured
at a number of web sites including 800CEORead.com,
NewsLosAngeles.com, and several others.
For many reasons 2006 may be my breakthrough

Ken Harbauer and my friend Dave Sommars
did a fine job on a web site in support
of my book, LACEY'S DAY . Check out the
"slide show," produced by Dave
and myself, which summarizes the scene in
LACEY'S DAY where Ted and Lacey meet at
the airport! It stars Jane Kim, the cover
model on LACEY'S DAY, and her husband, Chris,
who plays Ted! On the Lacey's Day bulletin
board, write in with your reviews and email
experiences. Thanks to the readers who wrote
and left their wonderful comments!

OPRAH . . . a start
The Harpo Productions(Oprah) folks
just wrote me and thanked me for the birthday
package of books I sent to Oprah. So, I'm
a known quantity with them at this point!
And, unlike Frey's memoir, my 60's memoir
GOT TO MAKE IT! is all true! I'm also sending
small book-packs of my work to other celebrities
who are having birthdays and might have
an interest. We'll see; cross your fingers!
See You in a couple months!

The
NY Book Fair
Photos from the NY Small Press Book Fair
will soon be posted at both of my web sites.
The fair was quite crowded despite chilly
weather. Some of my NY/NJ friends came,
too, or sent me nice cards; maybe I'll see
them next time!
My reading at the Fair was well-received.
It was the first time I've read from A CONSEQUENCE
OF GREED. I wore a cowboy hat to get into
the spirit of the book, set in Texas.
Thanks to Karin Taylor, the executive director
of the Fair, for her ongoing support: before,
during, and after! The photo to the right
is of Jack waiting for "customers."

Reading from A CONSEQUENCE OF GREED,
Jack dramatically explains how his Sheila
character, drunk at the bar, barely says
"yes" through gritted teeth, initiating
the murder plan and hiring Coy Duncan as
the "trigger man."

Jack concludes his reading and
responds to generous applause.
"Meet
the Author"
On a side trip from NYC, I had fun doing
a ""meet the author" day
at a middle school in Montclair, New Jersey,
where I read from my book, GOT TO MAKE IT!
. . . and played its CD.
Photo right: Jack read from his book, GOT
TO MAKE IT!, popular with pre-teens and
older. The sixties memoir has garnered splendid
reviews across the
country. After the reading, Jack played
part of the ENCORE! CD included in collectors'
edition of the book.

Jack says, "Hello, Montclair,
New Jersey!, just like an old rock 'n'
roller would say at a concert. Jack took
a side trip from New York to
do a "meet the author" day at
the middle school in New Jersey. Friend
Loretta Volpe set up the appearance there;
her son Brian is a big fan
of the book and CD.

Below is an article from Newslosangeles.com
about 'Lacey's Day':
An Exciting Cross Cultural Romance Makes
For Good Reading Lacey's Day Book and Mini
Movie About a Cross-Cultural Internet Romance
Dripping With Realism! Eloquence Press has
taken the publishing world by storm with
the release of Lacey's Day (Eloquence Press
$15.95) by author Jack Eadon. Eadon, who
has had three operations on his brain, became
interested in the Internet during the 1990s
when he corresponded with a young woman,
new to this country. Lacey's Day was "a
real stretch" for him. Not only was it his
first love story, but the cross-cultural
twist made it quite challenging. This is
exactly the dynamic behind Ted and Lacey
meeting on the Internet and falling hopelessly
in love: Their characters are a true derivation
of the circumstances in the plot, but the
plot unfolds directly as a result of the
nature of the characters. Eadon says," In
my research, time after time, those Internet
liaisons that began as safe, caring, email
relationships, went on to become stable
unions in-the-flesh. So, the efficacy of
e-love should not be doubted! It can truly
be a safe place to fall. I found that by
focusing on esoteric values that usually
become more important in later years of
a normal relationship, an email union depends
less on the transitional physical aspects
that drive early in-the-flesh partnerships.

Jane
Kim, whose photograph graces the cover
of LACEY'S DAY,
introduced at Angie's on Sunday, October
17, practices her part prior
to the reading. Jack and Jane "played"
Ted and Lacey from the book,
sharing reading responsibilities.
|
Glenda
Olacsi took the train from miles away
to attend the
national introduction of LACEY. Via
cell phone, she chatted with
another "fan", Rebecca Jones
of Las Vegas, who really wanted to go
to the signing. But, Rebecca, who has
Lupus and couldn't travel,
received by phone a personal reading
from Jane and Jack, and a pep
talk from Glenda. |
Jane and Jack read
several passages from LACEY |
Jack
reads Ted's part, telling how the character
was jilted
by Blair, his fiancé, at the
altar. Not long after that, Ted
"meets" Lacey on the Internet,
supposedly a temporary diversion after
experiencing the trauma of losing Blair.
|
After
initially shunning Ted for his email
"intrusion," Lacey emails
him back and apologizes, soon becoming
a regular part of his life. Within a
couple of months, the two are emailing
four times a
day, falling deeply in love . . . and
are planning to meet.
